What is Managed Security?

The only defense to today's onslaught of malicious content is the proactive management of your internet security.  This is by definition a complex and constantly evolving challenge.  Some very bright people are interested in accessing your computers in order to get money from you (with or without your knowledge) or to simply make your life miserable by infecting you with a virus.  Our job is to help you manage these threats, and be ever vigilant for new ones.While some of our clients ask us to assist them with just one or two security requirements such as Managed Monitoring, many are now asking us to take a more committed role in their Information Security Management.

Managed Security, by definition, is a partnership that shares risk management between IPKey and the client.  We often tailor custom solutions to respond to the particular needs of our clients, but we always start with one of our three security templates.  These are:

     Comprehensive Management

Under the umbrella of comprehensive management, we assume primary responsibility for the security and integrity of your information network.  When a problem occurs, our engineers are notified first and start work on the problem right away.  This program works well for small and medium sized organizations that don’t want the headaches, or don’t have the resources, to deal with the constantly evolving challenge of information security. 

     Standard Management

This program is a cooperative effort between your IT staff and our engineers. All alerts are immediately sent to your staff, and our engineers are available for consultation if necessary.  Primary responsibility for the security and integrity of your network is with your IT staff.  If previously contracted, our engineers can also provide backup to your IT staff if they are unavailable.  This program works well with organizations who have good security skills and coverage in-house, but want an independent watchdog to monitor, advise and provide backup. Now IT Administrators can actually take vacations!

     Minimal Management

This is the a-la-carte option.  Your organization may have very specific needs such as outside monitoring of your key infrastructure components. Many larger IT organizations desire an independent security vulnerability audit for the same reason that they employ an outside accounting audit.  Furthermore, IT staffs are frequently backlogged with work and contracting the specialized information security skills can make a great deal of sense.  IPkey offers a wide selection of security services which are listed in the chart below.
