Minimize Downtime!

MMS has cut our downtime by 85% because any failure of our network is immediately routed to whoever is responsible for repair. It’s saved us far more that it costs. It’s a no-brainer.”  [Partner]

Availability & Performance Monitoring (APM)

Real-time 24/7 monitoring is the cornerstone of Information Security, just as it is with physical fire and intrusion alarms.  Our Managed Monitoring Service (MMS) can monitor your Internet connection, your router, firewall, server, email service, web site, backup, anti-virus software and even server event  logs.  In fact, we can monitor any IP device or service that is necessary for your business to function.  A failure of any one of these vital components can stall a time-critical project, idle employees and result in the loss of valuable work.

Like a sophisticated hospital monitor, MMS checks the health of your critical systems and looks for any abnormal conditions.  When it detects a failure, an error, an attack or any other unusual activity, MMS responds right away.  Whether you have in-house IT staff or an outside contractor, you will be notified within minutes via email, pager or a phone call.  This notification describes exactly what problem occurred, and provides detailed diagnostic information to help expedite a rapid solution.

Early notification of critical problems means early resolution of those problems, because you can’t begin to fix something until you know it’s failed.  Often the problem is caused externally - the phone company that provides your data circuits, or the ISP that hosts your email and web site.  Now you can be confident that MMS will automatically alert the provider, and get you first in line toward repair and resolution.  Timely response to the early warning signs of impending problems can easily save thousands of dollars in a single day.

  1. IP Monitoring provides a simple up/down indication of servers, routers and data lines such as DSL and T1. Additionally, we can monitor specific TCP/IP ports including those uses for email, web, remote access, etc. Alerts will be sent to you within minutes of an equipment failure, a down circuit or an IP port that’s not responding.  We can also send alerts to your ISP or telecom provider if a data line is down so that they can start on repair right away.

  2. Security Monitoring provides us with alerts from firewall, VPN and Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) that an unauthorized user is trying to get into your system.

Because we use 15min polling intervals, we can make this services very affordable. You may also optionally choose our periodic discovery service which will alert you when a new device appears on your network. This help detect the presence of unauthorized devices such as rogue wireless mobile devices. Contact us for more information.

  2. Environmental Monitoring continually checks the power, temperature and humidity of your server environment and alerts you when pre-defined thresholds are exceeded.

  3. Server Monitoring will let you know within minutes if a designated error condition appears in the Windows Event Logs. We can also monitor a variety of parameters such as free disc space, CPU utilization and memory allocation.  If a service fails on your Windows NT or 2000 server, we can optionally attempt a restart for you.

We also offer Voice over IP (VOIP) monitoring for this demanding and rapidly growing application

How APM contacts you...

APM generates 4 types of messages. These are color coded so that you  immediately know the severity of the notification and the urgency of attention required.  The Subject Line of every notification from APM will begin with one of the following phrases:

MMS Red Alarm

MMS Orange Alert

MMS Yellow Activity

MMS Green Status

Red Alarm notifications are typically triggered when a critical service goes down and normal operations are seriously impacted. This can be a router, firewall, server or and ISP. We recommend that you use an email enabled pager or cell phone to receive Red Alarms, so that you are immediately aware of the problem.

Orange Alert notifications are typically triggered when a critical service goes down, but normal operations are not immediately impacted. This is often a mail or remote access server. We recommend that you use an email enabled pager or cell phone to receive Orange Alerts, so that you are immediately aware of the problem.

Yellow Activity notifications are something that you should see within a hour at the most. Examples of Yellow Activity would be Anti Virus 'Virus Found' and firewall 'Attack Detected' notifications. They are typically used for problems that have successfully resolved, as opposed to failures.  We recommend that your normal email address be used.

Green Status notifications are used for routine notifications such as periodic reports, log files, etc..  Most of our clients keep these Notifications and refer to them only if necessary.
